South Hobart FC v Olympia FC Warriors
SUNDAY 6 May 2018
Challenge League KO @ 12PM DARCY ST
NPL KO @ 2PM DARCY ST
South Hobart FC play Olympia Warriors at home Sunday 6th in what is usually a highly competitive game between these two sides. Last week we had a big win against current ladder leaders, Hobart Zebras, in the Lakoseljac Cup quarter final, thanks in part, to new recruit Renato De Vecchi Marins 3 goals in the second half. Our team will face 4th placed Olympia FC Warriors who will be smarting from their quarter final loss and elimination from the Lakoseljac Cup to the Devonport Strikers. Matches between these two sides are played with a great deal of intensity so come along and support our team as they seek to continue their winning form at Darcy Street. KO @ 2PM
Our Challenge League team will be looking to consolidate their position on top of the table when they take on Olympia FC Warriors as well this Sunday. After a draw in Round 5 they will be looking to consolidate their leading position on the ladder with a win this weekend. KO @ 12:00 pm.
LAKOSELJAC CUP and U20 STATEWIDE CUP
Our senior men's team have drawn Launceston City FC in the semi-final of the Lakoseljac Cup. This should be a great match at Bucky LR Park so put Saturday 19 May in your diaries. KO @ 2:30PM Our U20's team have also reached the semi finals of their Statewide Cup and will play Northern Rangers at the NTCA on Saturday 19 May. KO @ 12pm.
South Hobart Senior Women's VWC and WSL Matches
VWC KO @ 12PM DARCY ST
WSL KO @ 2PM DARCY ST
Before the men's matches on Sunday we have our senior women teams back in another double header on Saturday.
This sixth round match of the WSL has our senior women pitched against a resurgent and confident Taroona FC. In a thrilling State wide Cup match last weekend Taroona came from two goals behind, not once but twice, to beat last year’s premier’s, Hobart Zebras 6-5 in an enthralling and high scoring match that went into extra time.
This is the first encounter between South Hobart FC and Taroona FC teams in the WSL and will be another challenging encounter for our senior women. Whilst unsuccessful in our last two games against the two teams at the top of the ladder (Launceston City and Ulverstone), the team will look to build on and consolidate passages of play where they have demonstrated they have the capacity to dominate and surprise more experienced teams.
Our Veto Women’s Championship team also play Taroona FC at 12pm and will be looking to return to their winning ways after a loss against the Olympia FC Warriors two weeks ago. Again, this should be an entertaining match featuring some of southern Tasmania’s aspiring development players.
CRJFA JUNIOR AND SOUTHERN YOUTH LEAGUES
The Central Region Junior Football Association (CRJFA) and FFT Southern Youth League winter competitions begin this weekend so it will be a busy time for all our players, their parents, volunteers and match officials. Membership numbers are very high with 17 junior teams (which includes four girls teams); 10 southern youth league teams (including one girls' team playing in the U14 boys) along with a team in the Senior Youth Girls competition. Our female program has grown significantly this year and represent 40% of our playing membership. With our four senior teams (men and women) and our youth and junior teams, you will never be short of a South Hobart FC match to attend this season. Make sure to get out and support our teams as they launch into the 2018 winter competitions.
